Ernie McGarry, MC, LMHC
I am Ernie McGarry, MC, LMHC a licensed mental health counselor. I work with teens, adults, and couples who are dealing with a variety of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, marital problems, and substance abuse. My focus is primarily time-limited effective treatments aiming to help clients achieve life goals and find their path to health and happiness.
My counseling career began helping clients through their Employment Assistance Program and then entered private practice, and ultimately, joined University of Washington research teams studying evidence based practices such as Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. These studies examined the effectiveness of these practices in helping clients make positive changes in their lives.
I was born and raised in Seattle, graduated from Seattle Preparatory School and earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Washington. I attained my Masters Degree of Counseling at Seattle University. I've served the community by participating on the Puget Sound Task Force on Human Rights, as a trained Disaster Mental Health volunteer with the Red Cross, volunteering with Neighbors in Need, and coached youth and adult athletics.
