Hello! My name is Kalie Shekoni, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Washington (LH61581131), as well as a board-certified school counselor. My educational background includes a degree in Psychology from the University of Washington and a Masters in Education in School Counseling from Western Washington University.

I am honored to accompany you in your journey of self-discovery; uncovering the ways you might be stuck, or assisting in finding ways to create more freedom, healing, and meaningful change in your life. My background is in school counseling, and for the last 10 years I have worked alongside individuals and families to help find relief with problems related to anxiety, depression, trauma, navigating relationships, identity exploration, as well as developing self-understanding and acceptance.

My approach to counseling is intuitive, curious, and conversational. My focus is on meeting you where you are at, paying attention to your needs, and developing a deep understanding of who you are in order to create a safe space for change to occur. Together, we may work on identifying patterns of thinking or beliefs that may be creating difficulty or stagnation for you, and trying out new strategies and mindsets for approaching problems or challenges. I believe that people heal and grow in attuned and caring relationships and that each of us has the capacity to find our own version of freedom and meaning throughout our lives. I also believe that identity is complex and that the systems and structures we’ve inherited impact our experience in the world. Therefore, my counseling style is a blend of numerous counseling techniques and theories including mindfulness-based approaches, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, as well as Multicultural and Feminist theory.

I love being a counselor and believe deeply in the power of counseling relationships to foster healing, growth, and a deeper understanding of what is already so powerful in each of us. I look forward to meeting you!
